Community Responders - Age UK Northamptonshire
I would like to introduce myself and Kirsty Kovacs, we have recently become Coordinators for the Community Responder service at Age UK Northamptonshire.
Our service provides support from volunteers to people over 60 years of age. We work closely with the Intermediate Care team and Remote monitoring hub who provide urgent care for acutely unwell patients to avoid admittance to hospital.
Our volunteers support with welfare checks, helping people up following a fall, collecting emergency prescriptions, providing reassurance while waiting for family, friends, primary and secondary care services to arrive, doing small amounts of shopping and topping up gas and electricity meters to name just a few of the ways we can support our community.
The service currently runs Monday to Friday, 9am to 3.15pm.
Kirsty and I are working to build up the amount of volunteers we have available to allow us to support more elderly people within Northamptonshire.
To help us support as many older people as possible in our community and to support us to continue to build the number of volunteers we have available across the county, we ask if you could kindly share the attached poster on Parish notices boards, in local community centres or even newsletters to support this project.
If you would like to discuss the support we can offer further or are hosting any events that you feel it would be suitable for us to attend to promote our valuable service, please do not hesitate to get in touch on 07881 230222.
